DALLAS – Apr. 26, 2007 – The Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) has announced a 2nd generation standard
footprint and pin out design for 3A and 6A non-isolated point-of-load (POL) DC/DC converters. This 2nd generation of POL standard nearly doubles the
current density (Amp/in2) from the 1st generation of DOSA standards, meeting industry demand for high-density POL modules. This new standard establishes
the location of pins, recommended pad layout on customer boards, input and output voltage ranges and critical features and parameters required for
interoperability and second sourcing.
"Standards development such as this improves second sourcing opportunities that are often thwarted by inconsistencies in
technical considerations." said Sabi Varma, general manager at Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Inc. "We are excited that DOSA has embraced
the significance of our latest POL offering by standardizing its specifications."
