The Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance
Adds Ericsson Power Modules as its Newest Member
November 9 , 2004
Dallas, TX –November 9, 2004 – The Distributed-power Open Standards
Alliance (DOSA) is pleased to announce that Ericsson Power Modules,
one of the world’s leading manufacturers of DC/DC power modules,
has joined the industry alliance. Ericsson joins current members
Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Inc., SynQor, Inc., Celestica Power Systems,
Lambda and Delta Electronics in this growing industry alliance.
“At Ericsson Power Modules we are very enthusiastic to be joining DOSA,” said
Patrick Le Fèvre, Marketing Director for Ericsson Power Modules. “The objectives
of the alliance line up well with Ericsson's goals of industry leadership, technical
excellence and customer satisfaction. Ericsson is eager to contribute to DOSA
and to the development of compatible products that will serve the best interests
of our mutual customers.”
Founded by Tyco Electronics and SynQor in February 2004, DOSA’s mandate is to
establish standards over a broad range of power converter form factors, footprints,
feature sets and functionality for both non-isolated point-of-load (POL) and
isolated applications. DOSA standards for DC/DC converters ensure product compatibility
and facilitate second sourcing for customers.
“DOSA membership now includes six of the world’s largest and best known DC/DC
converter manufacturers,” said Sabi Varma, Vice President, Marketing and Business
Operations for Tyco Electronics Power Systems. “DOSA has established itself as
the leading industry alliance and the de facto standard for DC/DC converter modules.”
“DOSA is pleased to welcome Ericsson Power Modules to the alliance,” commented
Joseph Coupal, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales for SynQor. “Their
experience and leadership in the industry will be extremely helpful in allowing
DOSA to continue its development of open, customer-driven standards.”
Ericsson Power Modules has recently announced its PKU4000 series of 1/16th brick
isolated DC/DC converters. The new modules are DOSA compatible, offering a 43%
size reduction compared to standard 1/8th brick modules, allowing designers more
space to use for greater functionality within their systems.

The Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) was formed to ensure future DC-DC product compatibility and standardization within the increasingly fragmented power converter market. The goal of the alliance is to establish customer interface standards early in the development cycle, which include form factors, footprints, pin-outs, feature sets and other parameters that will permit alternative sourcing. The alliance covers a broad range of power converters including non-isolated (POL), isolated applications, and intermediate bus converters.
